Global Health Observatory (GHO)
The World Health Organization (WHO)'s Statistical Interactive Database (WHOSIS) is now called the Global Health Observatory (GHO). There are 53 series that come from the WHO Statistical Information System (WHOSIS). Most have not been updated since 2007, some are even older. 20 of these series are being read into the preprocessor.
The WHO Statistical Information System (WHOSIS) was an interactive database bringing together core health statistics, but has now been absorbed into the Global Health Obserbatory (GHO). The GHO provides over 1000 health indicators for the 194 WHO member states and can be accessed online: http://apps.who.int/gho/data/node.home
The IFs system uses various measures from WHOSIS including diabetes relative risk, mortality and burden of disease, obesity, tobacco smoking prevalence, and life expectancy. As the series are updated, data will come from the GHO instead of WHOSIS.

Instructions on pulling GHO data
1. Go to the GHO page for the data being pulled.
A link should be provided in the description above. If it is not, search for it here: http://apps.who.int/gho/data/node.resources?search=
2. Underneath the title, there will be two tabs, "Data" and "Downloads". Click on "Downloads".
3. Download the data in the Excel List format.
4. The data will be found in the "data-text" sheet in the excel file.
5. If the data being pulled is anything other than the child or neonatal mortality % (e.g., HealthMortChilMalaria%, HealthMortNeoNatCongen%), save the file and import into IFs. The country concordance that should be used is WHO 2012. If the data being pulled is child or neonatal mortality %, continue on to step 6.
6. The data for child and neonatal mortality includes both in the same column of the spreadsheet, so it needs to be separated into two distinct columns to be imported into IFs. First, create a new sheet in the excel file. Then, make sure the years in the "data-text" are in order (sort A to Z). Sort the countries next (A to Z). This will make sure that the years and countries will line up when you move both the neonatal mortality and the under 5 mortality. Next, select the "Age Group" column and select only 0-27 days. Move the columns for year, country, age, and distribution of death (numeric) to the new sheet.
Go back to "data-text" and select only 0-4 years in the "Age Group" column. Move the columns for age and distribution of death (numeric) to the new sheet. In the new sheet there should be 6 columns: year, country, age group (0-27 days), distribution of deaths (numerical) (0-27 days), age group (0-4 years), and distribution of deaths (numerical) (0-4 years).
Save this file and save a copy. Import the first copy of the file into IFs for one of the age groups, then import the second age group using the second copy of the excel file. The country concordance that should be used is WHO 2012.
