Users can explore different dimensions of values in society for different countries and scenarios by changing the Display Option Fields:


The World Value Survey allows you to toggle across three different dimensions of values in society: Materialism/Postmaterialism (MATPOSTR), Survival/Self-Expression (SURSE) or Traditionalism/Secular-Rationalism (TRADSRAT). Use the scroll-down menu to select which dimension of values you would like to display. You can then choose to display the World Value Survey results as a product of different Run-Result-Files found to the right of the variable scroll-down list.

You can advance the value you have chosen through time by clicking on the advance. In order to move backwards through time, click on Regress. In order to change between countries/regions and groupings, simply click on [[Country/Region,_Group_or_G-List|country/region or grouping]]. Other options allow you to Save and Print your graph.

  • Countries or Regions: Choose the desired country or region form the drop down.
  • Variables: Users can select which dimension of values they would like to display: Materialism/Postmaterialism (MATPOSTR), Survival/Self-Expression (SURSE) or Traditionalism/Secular-Rationalism (TRADSRAT).
  • Select File: Choose the desired saved scenario to display from the drop down.

Users can adjust other options and features from the tool bar at the top of the page:

  • Continue: To go back to the previous menu or to the Main Menu of IFs.
  • Time:
    • Advance: Click to move the display year forward by 5 years.
    • Regress: Click to move the display year back by 5 years.
  • Set Group or Country: Change between displaying either country/region or groups by clicking on either Group or Country/Region sub-options. The selection for the current chart being displayed will have a checkmark next to it.
  • About WVS: Provides more information on the World Value Survey.
  • Help: Brings the user to the corresponding page in the Pardee Wiki with the current feature or display they are on.
