India's Agricultural Data

AgProdCereals

Agricultural production of cereals in India was found on the Data.gov website but the original data was published by the National Horticulture Board of India. The data is in thousand tons and is normalized using ApplyMultAll. The data runs from 2009-2010. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were estimated based upon land area. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have about a 42/58 split in their land area.  

More recent data is available from the National Horticulture Board and could be updated. 

AgProdPulses

Agricultural production of pulses in India was found on the Data.gov website but the original data was published by the [[National_Horticulture_Board_of_India

|National Horticulture Board of India]]. The data is in thousand tons and is normalized using ApplyMultAll. The data runs from 2009-2010. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were estimated based upon land area. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have about an 42/58 split in their land area. 

LandArea

The series for land area runs from 1961 through 2010. There is not a source cited in the metadata. The series is in million hectares and is normalized to national data using ApplyMultAll.

LandCrop

Crop land data was found in the Report of the Working Group on Risk Management in Agriculture for the Eleventh Five Year Plan (2007-2012), Planning Commission Table 11. There is data for only 2004, which makes this series outdated. The data is in Hectares and is normalized using ApplyMultAll

This series could be updated with land use data from Data.gov, which would give a 2011 data point for all states. 

LandForest

Forested land was found in a Report of the Working Group on Wildlife, Biodiversity, Traditional Knowledge and Animal Welfare for the Eleventh Five Year Plan (2007-2012), Planning Commission & Ministry of Environment & Forests Annexure IV. The data is in square kilometers and is normalized using ApplyMultAll. The series has data for only 2000 and is outdated. 

Forested land could be updated using data available through the Data.gov website and would give 2011 observations of forested land. 

LandGrazing

Grazing land was found in a report called Agricultural Statistics at a Glance 2006 which is published by the Agricultural Statistics Division, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation; Ministry of Agriculture. This report produced data for 2001 and 2003 in million hectares. 

This series is dated and could use an update using the Land Use data from Data.gov.

LandIrAreaEquipFAO

Land area equipped with irrigation was found in a report called Agricultural Statistics at a Glance 2006, which was published by Agricultural Statistics Division of the Ministry of Agriculture. There is data for 2001 and 2003 in thousand hectares which is normalized using ApplyMultAll.

The Land Use data that is available from Data.gov could be used for an update because this series is so outdated. 

LandIrPotential

Potentially irrigated land was found on the Planning Commission website and was produced by the Ministry of Planning in India. This series has data only for 2014 and the data is in thousand hectares and is normalized using ApplyMultAll.
